These caterpillars are green with a strong backward-facing horn on the tail.

This specimen was photographed after emergence from the pupa which was found under some timber under a house in Ipswich.

The adult moths have blotchy brown forewings and rusty-red hindwings, and dark marks each side of the abdomen. The wingspan is about 8 cms.
